> The records publishing an API writes in the namespace of its Startup, and what each one holds.

Publishing an API writes five records in the namespace of its Startup, from its one [Definition](/reference/concepts#definition).

## The records
| Record | Holds |
| --- | --- |
| Startup | The business the API belongs to, and who holds it. |
| Product | The operations of the Definition, without their rates. |
| Offer | The posted rate of each operation, the free calls a month, and whether a call needs a Key. |
| Meter | The usage of the API, by Customer and month, at the rate each call was served at. |
| Domain | The home Domain, where every Interface answers. |

## The order
The entry of the Startup in the directory is written first, so a Startup that cannot be created leaves no record behind. The Definition is checked before anything is written, and a Definition with a problem writes nothing.
